Hiking Extension to Mount Cerro Torre:

Mount Cerro Torre certainly counts as one of the world’s most magnificent mountains, and is rightly referred to as the dark serrated wonder! The base of Cerro torre is the only location where you can get clean, close up views of Cerro Torre and you may very well be able to catch icebergs floating on the lake at the base of this dramatic mountain – a truly magnificent scene!

April 10: A great adventure awaits us and we get ready for our hike into the heart of the mountains! The camp site at the base of Cerro Torre is set up for you and all you need to bring is yourself, your camera gear and some clothes for our two nights of camping. There is also the option of hiring a porter who can carry your camera gear and clothes for you. We hike at a pace that is comfortable for all our participants and our guide and myself will make sure that you arrive comfortably and safely at our camp site. After having settled in, we are off to the nearby lake from which we can view and wonder in awe at the dark serrated wonder ! We spend the afternoon exploring some of the rivers, lakes and the beautiful autumn foliage which we want to use as foreground elements for our images of Cerro Torre. After our sunset shoot we return to our camp to enjoy a hearty cooked meal and, if the weather permits, we return to Cerro Torre to photograph it under the starry sky! It has been a long day, and we return to our camp to rest in preparation for another day of exploring this spectacular area.

April 11: Up well before sunrise we hike to some of the best locations for capturing Cerro Torre in the morning light. As is typical for Patagonia, the weather changes rapidly, and we may reach Cerro Torre on a calm, windless morning, hidden in the clouds, only for the winds to pick up rapidly and Cerro Torre dramatically, but briefly, appearing behind the clearing clouds, before it is all covered again. This is what makes Patagonia so exciting, and we will be there to capture every minute of it! After our morning session we return for breakfast and rest at our campsite. We spend the remainder of the day exploring, at our leisure, more of the many photographic opportunities that this area provides. In the afternoon we depart for our sunset session, in the hope of capturing it all in glorious light. We return to camp and after another warm, hearty dinner we depart, weather permitting, to capture it all under the night sky!

April 12: Our last morning in these magnificent mountains and, after our morning photography session, we enjoy a hearty breakfast before we hike back to El Chalten through the beautiful autumn foliage. After some rest and replenishment, those of you who do not stay on for the hiking extension to Mount Fitz Roy drive back to El Calafate, the town where it all began, where you will spend the night before you continue your travels or return home for some well deserved rest!  All good things have to come to an end!

Hiking Extension to Mount Fitz Roy:

Mount Fitz Roy is the most imposing mountain in Argentinian Patagonia and when you stand at its base you are left speechless as the granite cathedral towers above you. When you hike to Fitz Roy, you are rewarded not only with this unforgettable view but also, in its vicinity, there are several waterfalls, rivers as well as beautiful laguna Capri, all of which form a beautiful complement to Fitz Roy.

April 12: We say goodbye to the members of our group who depart today and we return to our hotel to enjoy a long awaited shower, a delicious dinner, and a good night’s rest before we embark the following day on our hiking adventure to Mount Fitz Roy!

April 13: After a delicious breakfast we get ready for our hike to majestic Mount Fitz Roy! The camp site is set up for you and all you need to bring is yourself, your camera gear and some clothes for our two nights of camping. There is also the option of hiring a porter who can carry your camera gear and clothes for you. We hike at a pace that is comfortable for all our participants and our guide and myself will make sure that you arrive comfortably and safely at our camp site. After having settled in, we are off to explore this area that has so much to offer. There are several waterfalls and rivers to explore, beautiful laguna Capri and, of course, the many beautifully shaped lenga trees covered in colorful autumn foliage! After our sunset shoot we return to our camp to enjoy a hearty cooked meal. It has been a long day, and we return to our camp to rest in preparation for another day of exploring this spectacular area.

April 14: Up well before sunrise we hike to some of the best locations for capturing Mount Fitz Roy in the morning light. These can include waterfalls or lakes or hiking to the base of Fitz Roy itself , where you can capture the splendour of this granite cathedral towering right above you. After our morning session we return for breakfast and rest at our campsite. We spend the remainder of the day exploring more of the many photographic opportunities that this area provides. In the afternoon we depart for our sunset session, in the hope of capturing it all in glorious light. By the time we return to camp we will be tired, and it is time for a warm, hearty meal and perhaps some Argentinian wine!

April 15: Our last morning in this beautiful area, and after our morning photography session, we enjoy a hearty breakfast before we hike through the beautiful autumn foliage back to El Chalten . After some rest and replenishment, it is time for us to make our way back to El Calafate, the town where it all began. We enjoy a celebratory dinner in the company of good friends, and some well deserved rest.

April 16: We enjoy our last breakfast together before we eventually part ways and either continue our travels or return back home to family and friends! All good things have to come to an end!
